Schedule an Appointment

Please note we only accept online appointments for routine eye examinations. If this is an ocular emergency, or if you require specific medical testing such as a dilated eye exam, a visual field, glaucoma testing, or vision therapy testing, please call our office to book an appointment.

We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to allow for time to fill out paperwork and undergo pre-testing prior to seeing the doctor. Please bring in your insurance information, ID, Alberta health care card, all prescription eyewear including sunglasses, and if applicable, please wear your contact lenses into your appointment.

What If I Have To Cancel My Appointment?

It is important that you provide 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. This will allow us to place another patient in that time slot. There may be a $50 cancellation fee applied if adequate notice is not provided. Please call us as early as possible when you learn that you will not make your scheduled eye exam.

Do I Have to Purchase Glasses at Vision By Design?

We would be glad to assist you in finding that perfect pair of frames, but you do not have to purchase glasses from us. You can take your prescription and get your glasses from another optician or online. If you do choose to get your glasses at our office, it enables us to ensure your lenses perfectly fit your doctors recommendations and our staff have significant training in ensuring you will love your new look.

What If I’m Not Happy With My Glasses?

Our Edmonton Opticians want to ensure that you are thrilled with your new glasses. We make every attempt to make sure you are 100% happy before you leave the optometry clinic. On the rare occasion that a patient isn’t fully satisfied afterwards, the best thing to do is come in and see us right away. It may be something simple that we can remedy. We will always find a way to make our customers look and feel great about the expert care at Vision by Design Optometry. We always guarantee your satisfaction with your eyewear.

How Long Will My Appointment Be?

The typical visit is roughly around 45 minutes. This allows ample time to complete any paperwork, get examined by the optometrist, and select your new frames.

Is There Free Parking?

Yes! We are located in The Marketplace at Callingwood and there is plenty of free parking available.

Do You Serve Refreshments?

We are happy to provide you with a refreshing cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or water to enjoy while you are perusing our display of amazing stylish eyeglass frames.

Are You Good With Children?

Kids love our doctors and team members at Vision by Design. We help children feel comfortable with our doctors and we take the time to explain what we are doing in terms that they can understand. Our goal is to make the appointments fun and interactive so your children will feel more comfortable on their next exam. If you have a child that is particularly nervous about doctor visits, stop by our clinic before their appointment so they can become more familiar with us and our staff.

How Do I Get An Eyewear Makeover?

There are a couple of ways to get a custom eyewear makeover from Vision by Design. The first method is to meet with one of our expert stylists to select a set of frames after your eye exam. Another method is to drop in and ask for one of our eyewear makeover stylists to help you pick out a new set of frames to match your personal style, face shape and complexion. If your prescription is recent, we can make your new glasses right away.

Can I Be Featured For An Eyewear Makeover?

Absolutely! We would love to feature you in our eyewear makeover hall of fame. There are some special requirements so it is best to come in and speak with our stylists to learn more.

What Is Vision Therapy?

Vision therapy is like physical therapy for the eyes and brain. It is a highly effective non-surgical treatment for common visual problems such as crossed or lazy eye, double vision and convergence insufficiencies. Vision therapy has been shown to help patients who have suffered a traumatic brain injury and can help improve performance in school by treating vision related learning disorders.

How Do I Schedule A Vision Therapy Examination?

Right now we are only taking appointments by phone. If you attempted to schedule an appointment using our automated booking system, please call and speak with one of our associates to schedule your appointment with Dr. Sarah Keep.

How Long is a Vision Therapy Assessment?

The vision therapy assessment is quite different from a routine eye exam. It involves multiple appointments including a 60-90 minute comprehensive evaluation of your binocular vision skills with the doctor and a separate 60-90 minute evaluation with our vision therapist. Dr. Keep will then schedule a 20-30 minute consultation to review the results of your assessment, discuss your treatment options and answer any of your questions.

How Often Are Vision Therapy Sessions?

Vision therapy sessions are about 40 minutes each week. It is also imperative that patients complete their exercises daily at home for best results. Length of treatment varies from patient to patient depending on their diagnosis and the complexity of their case.

Is Vision Therapy Covered?

In some cases vision therapy will be covered by WCB, an employer health plan or other insurance plans. It is best to contact our office to see what may be covered by insurance.
