It may be very obvious to parents if their child needs a cross eye treatment. Because of how noticeable it is that their child’s eyes are not focusing or working as a team. But not all visual syndromes are this obvious.

In fact, it may be impossible for a parent or teacher. To understand if the child is suffering from various vision syndromes or ocular motor dysfunctions.

Therefore, when a child is struggling with their saccadic eye movements. They may end up reading words throughout the page. Because they have a hard time moving specifically from one word to the next.

The way this can be figured out. Is if the parent or teacher asks the child to read passage out loud. So that they can determine if the child is able to read in a line or if that is difficult.

If it is difficult, the teacher can recommend that the parent take the child to a vision therapist for an assessment. Because they may have in ocular motor dysfunction, also known as a vision syndrome.

The next thing that parents and teachers should be aware of. Is it difficulty with what is called a pursuit eye movement. And that refers to the ability to follow a visual line, a string of text, or something in motion.

While it is very obvious that children would have a difficult time with pursuit eye movement during sports. If they have a hard time seeing where the ball is, or where it is going to move to.

But it is also easy to see when they read. If they have a hard time moving to the next line of text. Once they reached the end of the line. Perhaps they need cross eye treatment.

Therefore, parents and teachers can determine if the child has trouble with ocular motor dysfunction or vision syndrome. By asking them to read out loud. And then getting them to a visual therapist for an assessment.

When children have vision syndromes, whether they need lazy I treatment or a cross eye treatment. A visual syndrome refers to any time someone has a hard time utilizing their eye muscles properly.

There are several different ways that a visual syndrome can present itself. Such as having their eyes have a difficult time focusing. As well as being unable to focus on stationary objects. Or even on moving objects.

And students and children can present with ocular motor dysfunction or vision syndrome. When they have trouble reading, learning. As well as playing sports.

When they have a hard time focusing, or getting their eyes to work together. They will have a difficult time processing visual information. Especially when it comes to schoolwork.

And their grades can start to suffer. As they have a more and more difficult time. Reading their schoolwork, and then having to answer questions on the subject matters.

Therefore, parents and teachers who notice that a child who had better grades while they were younger. Are starting to get worse grades.

They might want to recommend getting a visual assessment done by a visual therapist. However, many parents may be overwhelmed at the task of trying to find a visual therapist.
